Information on adhesives

RENOLIT ALKORCELL

The 2D film for decorative surface design in PP

Hotmelt adhesives

Hotmelt adhesives based on PUR, PO and EVA are used for both profile wrapping and flat lamination. These each have different processing temperatures:

  • PUR-Hotmelts: Between 120 °C and 140 °C. These adhesives are recommended for processing HG products. Due to the low melting temperature of the PUR hotmelt adhesive, it is particularly easy to process.
  • PO- und EVA hotmelt adhesives: For unfilled EVA and unfilled PO hotmelt adhesives, the use of a heat shield is mandatory when bonding with an adhesive application roller.

Dispersions (mainly flat lamination)

The standard film dispersion adhesive is based on EVA copolymer.

Solvent-based adhesives

Solvent-based adhesives are slowly disappearing from the market. They are still used, but are harmful to health. Respiratory protection and gloves should be worn when using them.

RENOLIT ALKORFOL

The 2D film for decorative PVC surface design

The products RENOLIT ALKORFOL High Gloss/ Supermatt are equipped with an adhesion promoter on the back, which enables bonding with dispersion, hotmelt and solvent adhesives. The best surface stability is achieved when using a PUR hotmelt adhesive. RENOLIT ALKORFOL films are not exclusively equipped with a primer on the back. If no primer is available, it is particularly important to select the right adhesive. If you have any questions, please contact our CTS team. Solvent-based adhesives are slowly disappearing from the market. They are still used, but are harmful to health. Respiratory protection and gloves should be worn when using them.

RENOLIT ALKORFOL STEEL

The universal laminating film for steel and aluminium

The bonding of RENOLIT ALKROFOL STEEL is ensured by a heat-activated, polyester-based adhesive

RENOLIT 3D Thermolaminates & RENOLIT 3D PET Laminates

The 3D film for sophisticated design concepts

Polyurethane dispersions are used for the production of MDF milled interior doors using the 3D thermoforming process. Adhesive manufacturers offer the following systems for this purpose:

  • 1K-Systems and
  • 2K-Systems (with isocyanate crosslinkers)

For optimum processing results of the MDF-coated door leaf with RENOLIT 3D films, strict compliance with the minimum reactivation temperature recommended by the adhesive manufacturer in the adhesive joint must be ensured. Sufficient adhesive application must be ensured, particularly in the edge area and in the door panels, as the film is stretched the most in these areas. The ‘memory effect’ is particularly strong here. It is also necessary to apply the adhesive twice on edges, door panels and interior profiles. Intermediate drying takes place between the first and second application. The pot life, open time and curing time must be taken into account. For further processing recommendations, please refer to the RENOLIT 3D PET Laminate or RENOLIT 3D Thermolaminates Premier and Classic product descriptions. Further information can be found in the RENOLIT ‘3D Process Advisor’ and the Quality Guide ‘3D Frontenfertigung’ from IVK Europe.
